Oh, January. No matter where you are in the country, you’re probably kind of over the whole winter cyclone thing. Plus, after dressing up for most of December, it’s easy to fall into a post‐holiday fashion slump. Fortunately, we here at Buffalo Exchange have got your parka‐covered back! With help from Buffalo Exchange Portland (Hawthorne), we’ve put together some cozy winter-to-spring outfits that you can start wearing now. As the weather warms up, simply peel off a layer or two!
Café – Oh, Late!
We can all agree that getting out of bed is especially difficult on overcast winter days. So, if you ever find yourself late to a coffee date with your BFF, throw on cropped black pants with an oversized sweatshirt (we suggest going sporty chic with a purposefully worn‐in team logo) and a denim jacket. Finish it off with a chunky circle scarf and a pair of mod white booties. When the temperatures begin to rise, this is one of those winter-to-spring outfits that you can easily modify by ditching the jacket and scarf and rolling up the varsity sweatshirt sleeves. Next thing you know, you’ll be too cool for school.
Plaid You Could Make It!
Plaid is a ubiquitous winter staple, but we love it year-round! It’s easy to make a variety of winter-to-spring outfits with any plaid piece by pairing it with warmer colors and pastel accents. A pair of sienna slacks or a pleated cream midi‐skirt both play well with a larger plaid – be sure to add a rolled gray beanie for good measure. When the weather warms up, throw on a tee underneath and use your plaid button-up as your outer layer.
Bundle Up, Buttercup!
In the beginning of the year, it’s not unusual for the temperatures to start climbing and then suddenly backslide to frigid. If you find yourself shivering in a similar situation, it’s easy to recalibrate your springy outfits for wintry weather. We recommend adding a quilted jacket and dependable leather boots to your sweater/jean combo or upping the warmth of an A‐line leather skirt with a puffer jacket and warm faux fur scarf. Things are certainly starting to heat up now!
Winter-to-Spring Outfits for the Office
Easing back into work after the holidays is tough, especially when you’ve lounged around in pajamas for the past week or two. Fortunately, you just have to remember the ABCs of business: Always Be Comfortable! Get back into the groove of things with a striped button-down layered beneath a khaki cargo jacket and longline black coat. When spring finally comes around, shed the beanie and the wool coat, instead displaying your casual khaki layering piece.
Now that you’re fully equipped to step into the New Year with perfectly layered winter-to-spring outfits, you’re sure to accomplish anything you set your mind to! Maybe even that closet cleanout you’ve been thinking of? We buy the best of all seasons, all year-round, so stop by your local Buffalo Exchange to trade in your past favorites for fantastic new layering pieces. In the meantime, shake off that snow from your beanie and dream of warmer days, but appreciate the calm, quiet beauty of winter while you can. Summer (and summer fashion!) will be here before you know it!
