Maybe we don’t always think about or experience gratitude on a profound level, but upon reflection and perhaps absence that sense can be kicked into overdrive. Just today I was awe-struck, with the majesty of nature. As we drove up to the High Sierra National Forest, the beauty that surrounded us was breathtaking. Anything short of a poet’s word would fail to capture the true majesty of our amazing state. Vivid, luscious green leaves radiate amongst deep maroon and golden amber. The rain turns into hail and then suddenly it’s snowing and the pines and redwoods have an impossibly fresh dusting of white. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the ability to experience this, for in this brief moment where I am reminded of how beautiful my home–California–is.
