All Buffalo Exchange locations will be CLOSED Saturday, June 19th in honor of Juneteenth, a nationally celebrated holiday honoring the emancipation of enslaved African American people and their descendants in the United States. We’ll reopen for normal business hours on Sunday, June 20th.

Have some rad pieces you haven’t gotten around to wearing taking up space in your closet? While you’re planning your shopping trip, make an appointment to sell, too! Just like the weather, summer style trends are coming in hot! As the temps warm up, it looks like there’s a new trend to add to your moodboard every day. To take some of the guesswork out of what to shop for this summer, we’ve compiled a short but mighty list of summer styles to liven up your wardrobe (Spoiler alert: all of these trends can be found at your local Buffalo Exchange!). Scroll through for our top picks on what to wear this summer.
Get into the Groove-y Florals
Florals are ubiquitous year-round, and summer is no exception. Switch out your modern prints for throwback 90s-does-70s florals in bold, bright colors. Bonus points for grungy baby-doll silhouettes or tres chic suit tailoring!
Ah, the ultimate summer dressing dilemma: full coverage or breathability? Enjoy the best of both worlds with semi-sheer, long-sleeved mesh shirts in your pick of patterns. When it comes to prints, we say: the bolder, the better!
Y2K All Day
This one’s for all the zillennials out there! Inspired by the years between the late nineties and early aughts, Y2K style is back with tube dresses, graphic pants and kitschy accessories that would make even Zenon jealous.
Par for the Corset
Shapewear as everyday style has been around for a while (think compressive bike shorts styled for daily wear with tees or blazers), and the corset trend shows no sign of slowing down. Give major Bridgerton vibes with ivory satin or go punk rock with vegan leather and heavy-metal buckles!
As we’re able to reconnect irl with our bffs, coordinating outfits will be huge! Be it minimalist neutral sets, streetwear tees and cargos or Clueless-inspired plaid skirts and cropped tees, there’s a look out there perfectly tailored for your dynamic duo.
Fresh Fruit Fashion
Our last summer style trend is a sweet one: retro-inspired fruit prints! This juicy trend is perfect for summer and can easily be found in a range of styles, from pineapple-print sets to cherry embroidered dresses.

Katie comes with a background in Musical Theatre and a Master’s degree from Sarah Lawrence in directing, ensemble work and digital media. These days, when she’s not at Buffalo Exchange, she works as a freelance director and playwright with a focus on narratives centered around women and retelling historical narratives. She also works as Associate Artistic Director with Troy Foundry Theatre in Troy, NY. She takes inspiration from artists like Frida Kahlo, Louis Bourgeois, Caravaggio, and Gustav Klimt, as well as from sound and music. “I think theatre is the greatest collaborative art,” she says, “so things like music, fashion, visual art, digital media – they’re all essential to creating far-reaching performance art.”
Katie’s biggest theatrical influences include Samuel Beckett, Carol Churchill and Jose Rivera. Her work tends to be abstract with a goal of creating worlds that are recognizable but different from ours. “Experiencing art is not one size fits all,” she says. “It’s a very personal experience, and my goal is always to create space for each individual to find what they’re looking for.” Continuing her work amidst the pandemic has been tough, she admits, but just as Spencer Block believed, Katie knows that art is essential to our existence. “Art has survived every era of chaos, war, political turmoil and dysfunction in history,” she says. “We need art to express, communicate, protest, and process… When the opportunities aren’t presenting themselves, create your own.”
Over the past year and a half working at Buffalo, Katie has found her creativity and creative problem solving to be a huge asset to her job. “In the end,” she says, “fashion is art. It’s a way of communicating about ourselves, and even when I’m not making theatre, I feel like I’m working with art every day that I get to handle clothes.”
In February, I stopped by my local Buffalo Exchange for a LONG overdue shopping trip. In 2021, my goal is to focus on sustainable style: clothes that I’ll treasure forever, or timeless pieces that I know I can always trade in at Buffalo Exchange. Not wanting to overdo it, I made a promise to myself that I’d only leave with items I absolutely adored. Lo and behold, I found what I was looking for almost immediately: a VERY trendy pair of leather pants! At first glance, leather pants may seem like a strange choice — how often will I wear them? However, I found that they’re remarkably versatile, and I can totally see myself rocking them from fall to spring. Scroll through for three ways to style leather pants!
Colorblock with primary hues for a fun, artsy spin on no-nonsense leather (bonus points for added textures like faux fur and retro-inspired vinyl!)
Although they seem to be from totally different worlds, a racing jacket, cashmere sweater and cowboy boots are MINT to be! Finish the look with a top handle faux croc bag.
Take a trip to Paris without leaving your block in a French-inspired look featuring polka dots, strappy sandals and a cloud bag in a monochromatic palette.
As you can see, these black leather pants are far from basic! If you’re feeling inspired to shop, stop by your local Buffalo Exchange today. Each store is filled with classic staples, trendy pieces and one of a kind finds you’ll love. Plus, if you’re due for a closet cleanout, you can bring in your items and leave with trade to spend on a sustainable, new-to-you wardrobe!

Here in the northern hemisphere, winter weather is well on its way — and we couldn’t be more excited! Getting dressed in the winter means lots of layers and lots of style opportunities. To celebrate, we’ve compiled a short list of some of our favorite winter style trends. Read ahead to pick up a few tips on how to style them for your own unique look.
Blanket Statement (Coats!)
This one is a major-win for the eco-fashionistas out there! Coats and jackets made from vintage jackets and quilts are trending in winter style this year. Pair yours with your favorite vintage jeans, dresses and boots!
Game, Set, Match
Matching sets are big this winter and for good reason: they’re the wardrobe staple that keeps on giving. Wear them together for a coordinated look or split them up for double the outfits! Pants sets are the usual, but matching short sets are a super stylish option that have been making a comeback. If you’re feeling chill to the thought of shorts as winter style, warm up to the idea by layering up with a pair of tights!
Frankly, My Shear(ling)…
Shearling-lined jackets are one of the easiest ways to translate your chic self to cozy-comfort. When it comes to styling, denim and suede shearling jackets work well with just about anything in your closet. Pair them with your favorite tee and a slim-cut pair of pants for a casual-cool look, or go all out with a color-coordinated ensemble and eye-catching booties!
Plaid to Be Here
From gingham to glen, tartan to tattersall, there’s no shortage of plaid prints to try. Depending on your winter style mood, dress them up or down with a statement coat and your freshest pair of kicks.
The Vest is Yet to Come!
Waistcoats for winter? We say yes! Vests are another retro trend making a huge comeback, just in time to incorporate them into your winter style. Layer them over a turtleneck, vintage button-down or even a plain white tee!
After you’ve saved these winter style trends to your inspo-board, try them out irl at Buffalo Exchange! We’ve got the best stock of vintage and current finds on any block, with new pieces arriving everyday. Have a closet cleanout you’d like to swap out for something new? We’re back to buying in-person! Book an appointment online to schedule an in-person selling appointment today. Your past fashion favorites could turn into store credit to spend on a cool new look the same day.
Cleaning out your closet? Book an appointment to sell at your local Buffalo Exchange! We’re currently buying by in-person appointment and ask that you limit your cleanout to about 50 items. We’re buying for spring and the best of all seasons. As the temps get warmer we’re in need of lighter weight jackets and sweaters, tees, blouses and button-ups, as well as great denim. Sneakers, cross-body bags and hats are definitely on our list as well. Don’t forget that we take jewelry and designer pieces like handbags, wallets and even sunglasses year-round!

Wow, where did this year go? It’s already almost fall, but it feels like it was just yesterday when summer started! If you’re still not sure how to transition your looks from the warmer weather to cooler temps, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading for our fav fall trends.
Puff Sleeves & Prairiecore
This trend is one of my personal favorites! It’s the perfect transitional piece for any wardrobe and a definite entry point for the prairiecore trend. You can dress up or dress down, wear with boots or sandals, you name it! Invest in one of these and it will become your go-to look for any season.
Layer on the style this fall with blouses that are light on opacity and big on volume. Sheer pieces like this add something special to any look and are great for in-between temps where you can’t quite tell whether you’re hot or cold.
Pumpkin spice anybody? Let’s be honest, as soon as the temps dip below 90, I pull out everything rust-hued. There’s just something about this warm tone that brings all the fall feels.
Slick Back in Metallics
I know what you’re thinking, but just hear me out! This fun metallic fabric will be your new favorite piece for out-of-this-world fall looks. Not ready to dive in with high-shine head-to-toe? Dabble in metallics with fun accessories like platform sneakers or a silver tote.
Blazer of Glory
And my final, most favorite fall trend? Oversized blazers! The layering possibilities are endless with these 80s-inspired pieces that come in fantastic runs of plaid and all variety of colors, from neutral to bright. Layer a tee underneath when it’s a bit warmer and add on a sweater as the temperature drops.
I don’t know about you, but writing about all these fall trends gave me a sudden hankering to give my wardrobe a fast fall update! BRB – I gotta clean out my closet so I can trade it in for cool-weather finds. Need to clear some space for your fall-worthy wardrobe? Buffalo Exchange is buying for fall and the best of all seasons (especially menswear), so book an appointment online! They pay 25% of their selling price in cash or 50% through a Digital Store Trade Card.
