Meet Our Team: Monica Dam

By Buffalo Exchange Seattle (Ballard)

Our associate manager Monica Dam has worked at Buffalo Exchange since August 2, 2014. She started as a buyer and enthusiastically took on the challenges of being a manager when the associate position opened up in December 2014. She grew up in Ballard, not far from our store, and has never strayed far from the city that she loves. Her love of fashion didn’t start at Buffalo Exchange 10 months ago; it simply gave her an opportunity to explore new fashion territory. She grew up shopping at the U-District store, always searching for a new treasure that she could add to her wardrobe. Of course she was more than delighted when a Buffalo opened up in her Ballard neighborhood.

Our Airstream trailer was ready to complete any 70s transformation with a colorful array of items: a blouse embroidered with strawberries, a peach floor-length kimono, and cowboy boots as far as the eye could see. Old and new shoppers alike were ecstatic to see the beautiful artwork adorning the trailer, learn more about our roots, and help themselves to some delicious cookies and cake! It was the perfect sunny Sunday to celebrate 40 treasure-filled years at Buffalo Exchange!

And Seattle just wouldn’t be Seattle without an awesome selection of Dr. Marten’s. We see them in all varieties, including these killer snakeskin kicks.

Street Style Seattle

Buffalo Exchange (1)In the eccentric Scandinavian community of Ballard winter is here. Layering is the name of the game this year. We are seeing this trend in neutrals, blacks, pops of colors and metallic.  Women are drawing inspiration from witchery and magic; crosses, layering of sheer fabrics and mixed leather outerwear completes these looks. Oversized chunky knit sweaters with funky patterns are also making a comeback in full force. “Cozy Chic” describes these fearless women braving the cold weather accessorizing with beanies, scarves and pumpkin spice lattes. Tribal print has expanded since summer, leaving behind bright neon hues, to flourishing on young women in all shapes and sizes. From ponchos to leggings, this print shows it really can shine through multiple seasons.
