Tokens for Bags

Tokens for Bags® Charities

Every six months, we support new local charities through our Tokens for Bags® program. Instead of giving out bags, we give customers the opportunity to donate five cents (the cost of the bag) to a charity of their choice. Our Tokens for Bags® program has raised over $803,000 for thousands of local charities since 1994, saving over 16.06 million bags from polluting the environment!

“REVOLUTIONARY FASHION” BY TUCSON WEEKLY

Tucson Weekly spotlighted the story of Buffalo Exchange in an article titled “Revolutionary Fashion: The Family Legacy of Buffalo Exchange” on May 10, 2018: “… Kerstin says in 1974 she introduced something entirely new. ‘Thrift stores got all of their inventory from donations, and those people got nothing in return.’ So, she thought, she could be selective—she could curate—and pay people for the clothes they no longer wanted, but someone else might…”

Lollie Shopping featured Buffalo Exchange in an article titled “Earth Day $1 Sale at Buffalo Exchange” on 3/29/2018. ” I write about it every year—the $1 Earth Day sale at Buffalo Exchange. It’s the kind of sale that makes it worth getting up early, standing in line, and digging through piles of resale fashion. It’s also a great opportunity to get into the spirit of Earth Day and make a contribution. The Buffalo Exchange Earth Day $1 Sale happens April 21st at stores nationwide (excluding outlets).”

Nathanael Gregory Myers Receives Buffalo Exchange Arts Award

By Danielle Hargett, Buffalo Exchange HQ

“Art is not something that humans do when they have nothing else to do. Art is an essential part of the human condition. It happens everywhere and in all circumstances.” – Spencer Block, Co-founder of Buffalo Exchange

Every year, the Buffalo Exchange Arts Award honors an emerging artist in Southern Arizona with $10,000 so that they can continue doing great work for the local community. This year, the award went to Nathanael Gregory Myers. On January 24, 2018, family, friends and other local artists gathered at the University of Arizona Poetry Center to celebrate as Nathanael accepted the award. Luckily for everyone in attendance, he also offered up a very cool performance!
