“FALL THRIFT STORE FINDS” BY KGW PORTLAND

KGW Portland featured Linda Hjorth, Store Manager of Buffalo Exchange Portland (Downtown), in a segment titled “Fall Thrift Store Finds” on October 23, 2017. “Go in and be open to possibilities … the great thing is we’re always getting new stuff every day… We’re always buying all seasons, all year round, so you don’t have to wait and hold your summer pieces until next summer. If it’s something that we can buy for the store, that will sell for us either now or later, we will buy it,” says Linda Hjorth.

All About That Layering: Fall Outfits For The Guys

By Buffalo Exchange Portland (Downtown)

Now that summer is officially over, we’re more than ready for some crisp, cool weather. We’re so excited, in fact, that we put together some menswear outfit inspiration that makes us want to jump right into fall fashion (and maybe a big pile of leaves, while we’re at it). As always, we’re all about layering new trends with quality staples to put together fall outfits that feel fresh and exciting.

Laid-back Layering

Buffalo Exchange Men's Fall Outfits Layering

When it comes to fall outfits, you need to be able to keep comfortable in a wide variety of temperatures. To do this, layering is key! Throw a vintage denim jacket over a simple black and white graphic tee to keep you warm during chilly mornings. Personalize your jacket with pins or patches and, if the weather is especially cool, add a flannel button-up or a hoodie. Next, pair with slim khaki chinos and brown leather work boots for a laid-back but rugged look.

Meet Our Customer: Dirk Jackson

By Buffalo Exchange Portland (downtown)

One of our most loquacious regulars, Dirk Jackson is a native of Tacoma, Wash. Buffalo Exchange appeared on his radar when he moved to Seattle where he was a working musician for many years. But it wasn’t until he relocated to Portland 14 years ago that he became a regular shopper and seller. “I have expensive taste and I’m very picky, but as a musician I couldn’t really afford that,” says Jackson of the initial appeal of shopping at Buffalo Exchange.

On its arrival to downtown Portland, our 40th Anniversary Airstream trailer was greeted by one of our warmest (and breeziest) days this year! Portland’s eclectic style was on parade with plenty of diverse customers visiting our vintage pop-up shop along with lots of furry friends! Our curated collection of classic and western wear pieces included amazing dresses of all eras, Hawaiian shirts, lots of embroidery, and even a pair of sixties roller skates! The celebration was extended beyond the trailer into our Burnside store with festive decorations and seventies trivia. Water Avenue Coffee and Hungry Heart provided refreshments and cupcakes to supplement our shoppers’ delights! Not only was it a beautiful day for Portland, it was also an exceptionally fun day for employees and customers alike. Happy Birthday Buffalo! Forty never looked so good!

Vintage Inspired

Models: Emmeline and Bob

Buffalo ExchangePortland is all about the rain, so when the sun comes out for even a brief moment, we take full advantage by slipping into our short shorts and new sandals.  Some of our favorite trends to rock this summer are inspired by the past. Think Pleasantville without the black and white. Pastels, gingham shirts, cuffed trousers and cardigans are where we are headed. We couldn’t be more excited for sunny weather and picnics in the park.
