Having a job in fashion is a great way to explore new styles and refine your own personal tastes – especially when that job is at Buffalo Exchange, where new inspiration comes into the store daily! Buffalo Exchange Los Angeles (Santa Monica) employee Danyel loves bringing her streetwear-inspired personal style to work every day and constantly discovering new things about fashion. As she puts it, Buyers are “50% fashion encyclopedias, 50% curious.” Read on to find out more!
How would you describe your personal style?
I like to think of my style as street mixed with a touch of elegance. My go-to look is tomboy/chic, which basically means an oversized T-shirt or dress, jeans and sneakers (or heels if I’m going out on the weekend). Add a cute cross-body bag and, of course, BIG HAIR and I’m all set!

Oh, January. No matter where you are in the country, you’re probably kind of over the whole winter cyclone thing. Plus, after dressing up for most of December, it’s easy to fall into a post‐holiday fashion slump. Fortunately, we here at Buffalo Exchange have got your parka‐covered back! With help from Buffalo Exchange Portland (Hawthorne), we’ve put together some cozy winter-to-spring outfits that you can start wearing now. As the weather warms up, simply peel off a layer or two!
Café – Oh, Late!
We can all agree that getting out of bed is especially difficult on overcast winter days. So, if you ever find yourself late to a coffee date with your BFF, throw on cropped black pants with an oversized sweatshirt (we suggest going sporty chic with a purposefully worn‐in team logo) and a denim jacket. Finish it off with a chunky circle scarf and a pair of mod white booties. When the temperatures begin to rise, this is one of those winter-to-spring outfits that you can easily modify by ditching the jacket and scarf and rolling up the varsity sweatshirt sleeves. Next thing you know, you’ll be too cool for school.
Now announcing our 2018 Coats for Cubs drive! From January 2 to April 22, you can donate your real fur coats and trimmings at any Buffalo Exchange location. All collected furs will be sent to wildlife rehabilitators, where they are repurposed into bedding that nurtures recovering wild animals, providing more warmth and familiarity than options like towels and sheets. These furs help injured and orphaned wildlife by keeping baby animals warm and minimizing human contact during the recovery process.
“It really helps the animals to have something to snuggle into,” says Jody Raines of Illinois Valley Wildlife Rehab. “It appears to relax them and makes them easier to work with. Every baby heads right to the fur hiding place when I take them in.”
Since 2006, when Buffalo Exchange first became involved with Coats for Cubs, we have collected and distributed over 13,644 furs. Last year alone, we collected 1,390 furs to give back to the animals. Help us make it another record year! To learn more and see photos of some of the animals who have benefited from donated furs, visit CoatsforCubs.com.
As 2017 comes to a close, we’re thinking about our hopes and resolutions for 2018, but we’re also thinking about all the great things that happened over the past year. We’d like to say thank you to all who have made our success possible. Best wishes and Happy New Year to all of our wonderful Buffalos – customers and employees alike! We couldn’t do it without you. Cheers to a fantastic 2018!

When planning the perfect New Year’s Eve outfits, getting started is easy – all you need is a sequin dress bright enough to rival the Times Square ball! Accessorizing the look, however, can be a whole different story. Whether you want to re-wear last year’s dress in a new way or you just want to make it fit your individual style, we bring you 3 different ways to style the same sequin dress!
Classic New Year’s Eve Outfits
If you love Breakfast at Tiffany’s and take fashion inspo from stars like Audrey Hepburn and Greta Garbo, then this classically chic look is perfect for you. To start, we opted for simple yet elegant footwear – pointy-toed block heels. Then, we added a vintage clutch and pearl-adorned gloves to really give it a 1950s feel. For major glam factor? A faux fur jacket in navy blue, of course! Keep the understated elegance of this look by finishing it off with simple silver jewelry.Full Story

Keep It Fresh!
Take some fashion inspiration from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and dress up as the Banks Family for Halloween. Get together a few of your friends, pick up some 90s gear from Buffalo Exchange Costa Mesa and be sure to practice the theme song! “In West Philadelphia, born and raised. On the playground is where I spent most of my days…”
Spice for Life
Another take on the Spice Girls from Buffalo Exchange Florida! You really can’t go wrong with this 90s group costume. Bust out some group choreography to really make an impression this Halloween!
To Be or Not to Be
Still don’t know what to be this Halloween? Then take a page out of the old bard’s book and dress as Hamlet or any renaissance character. Find a poofy sleeved shirt for men and be sure throw on those tights! Accessorize by carrying around a skull like we did at Buffalo Exchange Bellingham. Romeo and Juliet also makes a great – but tragic – couples costume.
Channel your American Horror Story fandom into a simple – but effective – Coven look this Halloween. To create these looks at Buffalo Exchange New Orleans, we threw on as much black as possible – dresses, tights, hats and boots – and then posed in front of the genuine Coven house. It may not be quite as easy to find a sweet old mansion if you live outside of NOLA, but guaranteed you can put one of these monochromatic looks together in no time.

Tired of recycling your same old witch or zombie outfits and need a few ideas for creative Halloween costumes this year? Look no further! Whether you prefer whipping your costume up the night before or you like to go for something a little more elaborate, we’ve got tons of inspiration to help you put together your spookiest costume yet.
The 90s Come Back to Life
Anyone who lived through the 90s knows how many fantastically hilarious 90s characters, bands and celebrities there are to replicate via costume: Spice Girls, Coneheads, ET and cartoons like Rugrats, Aaahh!! Real Monsters or The Magic School Bus come to mind. To get in the Halloween spirit, find your favorite throwback show on Netflix, then get costuming.
We love summer, but we have to admit: we’re pretty excited for layers. We threw on some of our favorite fall trends here in Philadelphia for photographer Brandon Hayden. On our back to school shopping list this year? Plenty of retro athleisurewear, Clueless-inspired plaids, camo and denim.
Fall Trends: Feeling Fit
Rolling out of bed and heading to class has never been easier. This season, we’re all about track pants, track jackets, retro sneakers (how about these old-school Air Jordans?!) and classic athletic logo tees. These looks are the 90s all over again and we couldn’t be happier about it. Fair warning, though: if you often use the excuse of, “I forgot my gym clothes at home,” you’re out of luck. Welcome to the fittest fall yet!
