By Buffalo Exchange Brooklyn (Boerum Hill)

When you’re getting excited for spring style, but freezing temps and snowstorms keep popping up, what to do? Dressing for in-between seasons can be difficult, so here at Buffalo Exchange Brooklyn (Boerum Hill), we’re taking inspiration from street style seen on some of the top NYC fashion bloggers. Copy these looks to stay warm while wearing some of the pieces you’ve been stockpiling for spring!

Man Repeller’s Layering Magic

Buffalo Exchange, Brooklyn Boerum Hill, Street Style, Plaid Skirt Pink Sweater

To get this Man Repeller-inspired look, we went for a fun combo of bright colors and textures. We started with gold Nike Cortez sneakers and a puffer jacket, then added plenty of textures in between to really develop the layered effect. We can definitely see wearing these gold sneakers all the way into spring and are already envisioning all the outfits they might be paired with!

Aleali May’s Casual Cool Street Style

Buffalo Exchange, Brooklyn Boerum Hill, Street Style, Corset Top and Faux Fur Jacket

For this look, we got our street style inspiration from Aleali May, pairing chic distressed denim with heeled booties, a fun corset top and a faux furry jacket. This is a great way to start wearing your favorite new spring pieces now! Sporty and bold, Aleali May’s streetwear style is casually chic. Her staple piece? An oversized jacket worn with joggers or jeans and heels or sneakers.

Brooklyn Blonde’s Timeless Look

Buffalo Exchange, Brooklyn Boerum Hill, Street Style, Pink Scarf, Denim and Zara Shoes

The Brooklyn Blonde has a classic, polished style with go-tos like black shades, chic handbags and classic coats. We took street style inspiration from her for this outfit by pairing a Zara jacket with Reformation jeans, an oversized scarf and simple flats with a pop of color. Come spring, simply peel of the scarf and jacket and you have yourself a look that’s casual and polished all at once!

If you’re living a spring daydream, but it’s still 14 degrees outside, don’t despair! Look to your favorite Instagram accounts (including @BuffaloExchange!) for winter-to-spring street style outfit inspiration. Then, stop by your local Buffalo Exchange for tons of spring pieces you can start wearing now. Oh, and while you’re there, don’t forget to bring in your spring cleanout for cash or trade on-the-spot!

Earth Day $1 Day Sale: Turning the Tide on Plastic Pollution!

Drumroll, please…this year’s Earth Day $1 Day Sale will be happening on Saturday, April 21, 2018! Shop a special selection of clothing for just $1 apiece to benefit The 5 Gyres Institute. All proceeds from the selection of $1 clothing will go to 5 Gyres in support of their efforts to research ocean plastic pollution and engage communities in responsible use, design and disposal of plastic materials. Help us turn the tide on plastic pollution – just by shopping! Don’t forget that the sale is cash only and that $1 items go quickly, so get there early, $1 bills in hand – oh, and don’t forget to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag). The sale will be taking place at all Buffalo Exchange locations, excluding outlets.

A gyre, pronounced jy-yure, is a ring-like oceanic current system. There are 5 subtropical gyres in the ocean (hence the non-profit’s name!) and in 2011, 5 Gyres discovered evidence of plastic in all of them. Since then, they have been studying how plastic travels to these gyres and the effects it has on marine ecosystems, wildlife and human health. The Institute has a wide variety of programs like their TrawlShare, their Plastics BAN (Better Alternatives Now) List and their Mi Mar educational initiative. We’re proud to be supporting The 5 Gyres Institute in these efforts!

She’s So Metal

Buffalo Exchange, Headquarters, Valentine's Day Outfit, Metallic Skirt, lace

I love this Valentine’s Day outfit for a night out with your besties. The metallic trend takes a turn for the romantic when paired with a fuchsia lace blouse. Add an extra pop with hoop earrings and a beaded clutch, then complete your look with tights and slides. Bonus: you’ll definitely want to re-wear this metallic origami skirt all year long.

Meet Danyel Beck, Buyer and Personal Style Guru

By Buffalo Exchange Los Angeles (Santa Monica)

Having a job in fashion is a great way to explore new styles and refine your own personal tastes – especially when that job is at Buffalo Exchange, where new inspiration comes into the store daily! Buffalo Exchange Los Angeles (Santa Monica) employee Danyel loves bringing her streetwear-inspired personal style to work every day and constantly discovering new things about fashion. As she puts it, Buyers are “50% fashion encyclopedias, 50% curious.” Read on to find out more!

How would you describe your personal style?
I like to think of my style as street mixed with a touch of elegance. My go-to look is tomboy/chic, which basically means an oversized T-shirt or dress, jeans and sneakers (or heels if I’m going out on the weekend). Add a cute cross-body bag and, of course, BIG HAIR and I’m all set!

The Times They Are A-Changin’: Winter-to-Spring Outfits to Wear Now

By Aarian Frye, Buffalo Exchange HQ; Photos from Buffalo Exchange Portland (Hawthorne)

Oh, January. No matter where you are in the country, you’re probably kind of over the whole winter cyclone thing. Plus, after dressing up for most of December, it’s easy to fall into a post‐holiday fashion slump. Fortunately, we here at Buffalo Exchange have got your parka‐covered back! With help from Buffalo Exchange Portland (Hawthorne), we’ve put together some cozy winter-to-spring outfits that you can start wearing now. As the weather warms up, simply peel off a layer or two!

Café – Oh, Late!

Buffalo Exchange, Headquarters, Portland (Hawthorne), Winter-to-Spring outfits, denim jacket and white boots

We can all agree that getting out of bed is especially difficult on overcast winter days. So, if you ever find yourself late to a coffee date with your BFF, throw on cropped black pants with an oversized sweatshirt (we suggest going sporty chic with a purposefully worn‐in team logo) and a denim jacket. Finish it off with a chunky circle scarf and a pair of mod white booties. When the temperatures begin to rise, this is one of those winter-to-spring outfits that you can easily modify by ditching the jacket and scarf and rolling up the varsity sweatshirt sleeves. Next thing you know, you’ll be too cool for school.

Buffalo Exchange Coats for Cubs 2018

Coats for Cubs: Give Your Furs Back to the Animals

Now announcing our 2018 Coats for Cubs drive! From January 2 to April 22, you can donate your real fur coats and trimmings at any Buffalo Exchange location. All collected furs will be sent to wildlife rehabilitators, where they are repurposed into bedding that nurtures recovering wild animals, providing more warmth and familiarity than options like towels and sheets. These furs help injured and orphaned wildlife by keeping baby animals warm and minimizing human contact during the recovery process.

“It really helps the animals to have something to snuggle into,” says Jody Raines of Illinois Valley Wildlife Rehab. “It appears to relax them and makes them easier to work with. Every baby heads right to the fur hiding place when I take them in.”

Since 2006, when Buffalo Exchange first became involved with Coats for Cubs, we have collected and distributed over 13,644 furs. Last year alone, we collected 1,390 furs to give back to the animals. Help us make it another record year! To learn more and see photos of some of the animals who have benefited from donated furs, visit
