As we put the turtlenecks and peacoats away, we’re getting excited to pull out some of our favorite spring styles and let a little light into our winter closets. But what to wear for the new season? Here are some of our favorite spring styles of 2017 – all coming to a Buffalo Exchange near you! If you like one of these outfits but need help putting your own version together, just ask one of our talented employees for help styling next time you’re shopping!
Earn Your Stripes
What can we say? Stripes are a spring staple that bring up images of sunny picnics and perfectly breezy beaches. This season, wear them big and wear them bold. For a stand-out look, pair with another graphic pattern. Otherwise, keep it simple and easy by wearing a striped shirt with solid-colored bottoms. Instant spring outfit!
This season, the 70s are making their way back into our wardrobes by means of military-inspired styles and workwear fabrics. Designers like Versace and JW Anderson have already hopped on board by sending army surplus styles down the runway at London Fashion Week. To capture this yourself, think shades of green or a statement camo piece. Need some additional inspiration? Just watch a few episodes of M*A*S*H.
Denim in Distress
Move over, regular denim! Distressed denim is here to stay. We love this 90s grunge-inspired trend for warm weather since it leaves a little extra room to breathe. If the weather’s still a little cool where you live, no problem: you can also wear this style of denim over fishnet tights.
Patch It Up
Enter everyone’s favorite trend of the year: pins and patches. These miniature pieces of art are a great way to express your interests while making a fashion statement. Wear just one on the lapel of your jacket or add a collage of them to a pair of jeans or your favorite ball cap.
These Wes Anderson-inspired styles tune into the wanderlust trend that’s been going strong since last year. As in the 70s, designers are once again drawing more and more from cultures across the globe. The result is a delightful combination of bright prints and bold colors. Hey, if you can’t head to a faraway destination yourself, at least you can still experience a taste of travel through fashion!
Tokyo Fashion Week took a distinct turn towards punk for Spring 2017, with many designers showcasing checkered prints and fluorescent pops of color. We love the 90s underground vibe of these looks. To achieve this style yourself, you’ll need just one essential piece: a leather pageboy hat.
Feeling inspired to get your spring closet on? I just did the change-over myself and boy do I feel a weight off my shoulders. All the pieces I no longer love (including spring items I’m not excited to wear again as well as some fantastic sweaters that I didn’t wear once all winter) are waiting in a bag to sell. Hanging in their place are all of my favorites from last year. Next stop? Buffalo Exchange. I have some serious buy-sell-trading to do.
