A good pair of denim is less of a “trend” than it is a wardrobe staple. That being said, there is a wide variety of men’s denim available and it can be difficult to choose the perfect pair. A great place to start is selvedge jeans (aka raw denim). Raw denim, when cared for properly, can last for years and should be considered an investment. More and more companies are producing selvedge denim, so it’s easier than ever to track down the pair that’s right for you.
Go for a dark wash pair in a skinny, slim, or straight-slim cut. Dark wash selvedge jeans look just as good with a band tee and old school vans as they do cuffed with a collared shirt and a pair of brogues.
Black denim is also a great addition to your closet and is arguably the new distressed denim. You will look easy-cool with a plaid flannel and beat up Doc Martens. For a modern look, try tucking your black jeans into a pair of kicks and top with a long black or white tee.
Joggers may be the biggest men’s trend of late. Even if you aren’t one to follow trends, there is probably the right pair of joggers for you. Styles range from colorful patterns, drop crotch, and classic black or navy chino. For a more refined look pair with chukka boots and a sweater or button-up. Also, wearing joggers is almost as comfortable as hitting the town in sweatpants, which is, I think we can all agree, a wonderful thing.
