Holiday season generally means parties, parties and more parties, each with their own unique flair and their own unique dress codes. If you’re wondering what to wear to your next holiday sweater party, a casual family gathering, a house party with friends or an upscale blowout, we’ve got you covered! Read on our for our favorite men’s holiday looks of the year.
The Holiday Sweater Party
It wouldn’t be December without a classic holiday sweater party! This is your one chance to really turn the kitsch up to max volume, so the more quirk, the better. First step is finding a delightful holiday sweater – we recommend Buffalo Exchange, of course. We paired our holiday vest with a matching plaid button-up, jeans in a warm caramel color and green leather Vans. And who could forget the matching tree socks?! Pro tip: be sure to cuff your pants to let your fun socks shine through.
The Family Gathering
For a family gathering, you want to look fun and festive (let’s be honest – you’ll probably end up taking the photo for your parent’s holiday card next year), but comfort is also key. To create the ultimate men’s holiday look to cozy up beside the fire in, start with your favorite pair of jeans, your comfiest flannel (green or red highly recommended) and a cable knit cardigan. Add some fun socks into the mix, then finish off with loafers and a beanie.
The House Party
When it comes to holiday style, you may be tempted to go for classic colors like red and green. For a look that is festive but not corny, we recommend picking one or the other and opting for muted tones like burgundy or forest green. In this outfit, a green plaid blazer does the trick! Keep it comfy and casual for a house party with friends by pairing with a basic tee, slacks and oxfords.
If you’re headed straight from the office to a fancy holiday gala, no need to panic. Remember that any good men’s holiday look consists of three main components – your pants, your shirt and your outer layer. In many cases, you can just swap the outer layer and, faster than Clark Kent can become Superman, you’ll be ready to sip champagne with your pinky finger way up.
For this look, we started with a solid base of black dress boots and navy slacks (yes, the fashion powers that be have ruled that it IS ok to wear black and navy together!). For daytime, you might want to wear a more casual plaid button-up. Then, when you’re ready to head out for the night, throw on a solid, dark-colored button-up, a snazzy tie and a classy velvet blazer.
Well, there you have it, guys – men’s holiday looks for any occasion. If you’re ready to bring on the RSVPs, start going through your closet to see what you have to work with, then stop by Buffalo Exchange for a few statements pieces. We have fun socks, holiday sweaters and everything else you might need to put together your ultimate holiday party outfit.
