Shopping Fall Style on a College Student’s Budget

Buffalo Exchange Shopping on a Budget for Fall

By Moriah Masters

As a fashion marketing student, it’s important to me to return to campus in style. A back to school shopping trip is always in order, but being a college student, I have to stick to a budget. You know what that means – a trip to Buffalo Exchange! This year, I was looking for everything from 90s-inspired street style to dark bohemian prairie vibes. At Buffalo, I was able to put together three fall style looks that I absolutely love without going over budget!

Don’t Mesh with My Fall Style

Buffalo Exchange Mesh Dress

This feminine chic fall style is all about layering and uses lightweight mesh dresses that are great transitional pieces. In particular, I was looking for something with asymmetrical lines and ruffles, which are all the rage right now. At my local Buffalo Exchange, I ended up finding a mock neck mesh dress that fit the bill and layered it with items I already had in my closet. Since these dresses are sheer, layering is a necessity. For a more casual look, you could pair a mesh dress with a pair of shorts or jeans and a tank or bralette.

Luxe in Metallic

90s-inspired looks with high-shine? Yes please! Metallics were top on my list of fall style must-haves. Luckily, I found the perfect pleated skirt and paired it with a New York tank to achieve the vibe I was looking for. With metallics, it’s all about balance! Pick a statement piece and then dress it down with denim and a neutral-colored top.

Deep Dark PrairieBuffalo Exchange Dark Prairie

I am totally into dark bohemian feels for the cooler weather this year. This fall style is all about mixing floral patterns in colors like ochre, burgundy and rich brown with sheer layers. I ended up finding a mesh prairie dress and accessorized it with a dark floral choker and layers of lace chokers to achieve the look I wanted.

When shopping for this look, I recommend keeping an eye out for lightweight dresses and blouses in dark floral patterns. For dresses, use a corset belt to cinch in the waist and really give your outfit that “it-factor”.

Before I start shopping for a new season, I always like to look for inspiration on runways or in my favorite fashion magazines. Of course, I can’t afford designer prices, so I was very happy to find all my fall style must-haves at Buffalo Exchange!  What are your favorite looks for fall? Comment below! Buffalo Exchange is always interested to know what its customers are interested in buying. In the meantime, happy back to school shopping!
