Athleisure Style: Associate Manager Dakota

Buffalo Exchange Employee Athleisure Style

By Buffalo Exchange Minneapolis

As a Buffalo Exchange shopper since 2004, Dakotah has long been devoted to recycled fashion and sustainability. Over the years, she’s developed her signature athleisure style while shopping at Buffalo. It should come as little surprise, then, that during one of her frequent shopping and selling trips, Dakotah was approached to join the team. She jumped at the opportunity!

A Career in Fashion

Dakotah began as a Buyer in February of 2015 and, as she learned more about brands, styles and trends, her passion for the resale clothing industry grew stronger than ever before. About a week before her one-year anniversary with Buffalo Exchange, an Associate Manager position opened. Dakotah decided to apply and, well, the rest is history!

Athleisure Style at the Disco

Buffalo Exchange Minneapolis

Dakotah’s style can best be described as “athleisure at the disco” and you’ll seldom find her without her signature glitter, platforms and all-black attire. She loves streetwear brands like Play by Comme des Garçons and athletic jerseys. She will quickly tell you that she is inspired by Alexander Wang and the techno culture of Minneapolis. The influence is obvious:  despite wearing a lot of dark-colored basics, all of her outfits pop with splashes of glitter and metallic.

Interestingly, Dakotah’s athleisure style bridges generations, pulling in vintage and futuristic features alike. Her signature hairdo is inspired by the 60s and she has been evolving it over the years into bouffant perfection. The one thing she can’t live without right now? Platforms. She is constantly rotating them through her closet to shake things up and one of her latest additions was a denim pair by Opening Ceremony.
