San Antonio, TX is a city known for tourist attractions and laid back fashion. Street style is heavily influenced by western wear, as well as Mexican American culture. Amidst cowboy boots and southwestern prints, two trends have evolved to take the land by storm. Beach Goth, is the new Goth. An easy transition from the dark looks that popped up over the fall, Beach Goth is a little more minimalist. Unafraid of letting the hot, hot sun touching their skin, Beach Goth insist that the less clothing, the better, just don’t forget your oversized sunglasses and sunhats. Bright makeup and accessories are allowed to give a big pop against your clothes, but please, don’t forget your platforms.
A second trend we are seeing in our city seems to have been based off of the higher traveler population and can also relate to the military base we have in town. A trend we have coined as “Dust Wave,” this is a mixture of desert chic as well as post-apocalyptic survival. This look consists of neutral colors and layers of mixed textures. Paper thin tanks are layered under earth tone sweatshirts and light weight khaki trench coats. Cargo shorts and desert army work boots are utilitarian staples of this masculine trend. Watch out steam-punk, the new wave is DUST WAVE!
