Nashville Natives’ Take on Southern Style

By Courtney Dwyer and Zaviera Harrison, Buffalo Exchange Nashville

When you think about the Southern style of Music City, you probably picture cowboy boots, rhinestone cowboy hats and enough guitar-related merchandise to make your head spin. However, here at Buffalo Exchange Nashville, we’ve found that our customers are more about cool classics with an eccentric twist.

Vintage Country Music Tees

Buffalo Exchange Nashville Country Music Tees

Band tees are always a wardrobe staple. Our customers particularly love retro country music tees featuring fan favorites like Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins and many more.

Boots on Fire

Buffalo Exchange Nashville Boots

These sweet Durango cowboy boots recently came into our store and our entire staff has been obsessed ever since! We’ve watched flames quickly become one of the hottest trends (ok, you gut us – pun intended) of the summer season and the flames tooled into this pair make them stand out among the rest.

Buffalo Exchange Shopping on a Budget for Fall

Shopping Fall Style on a College Student’s Budget

By Moriah Masters

As a fashion marketing student, it’s important to me to return to campus in style. A back to school shopping trip is always in order, but being a college student, I have to stick to a budget. You know what that means – a trip to Buffalo Exchange! This year, I was looking for everything from 90s-inspired street style to dark bohemian prairie vibes. At Buffalo, I was able to put together three fall style looks that I absolutely love without going over budget!

Don’t Mesh with My Fall Style

Buffalo Exchange Mesh Dress

This feminine chic fall style is all about layering and uses lightweight mesh dresses that are great transitional pieces. In particular, I was looking for something with asymmetrical lines and ruffles, which are all the rage right now. At my local Buffalo Exchange, I ended up finding a mock neck mesh dress that fit the bill and layered it with items I already had in my closet. Since these dresses are sheer, layering is a necessity. For a more casual look, you could pair a mesh dress with a pair of shorts or jeans and a tank or bralette.

Luxe in Metallic

Buffalo Exchange Metallic

90s-inspired looks with high-shine? Yes please! Metallics were top on my list of fall style must-haves. Luckily, I found the perfect pleated skirt and paired it with a New York tank to achieve the vibe I was looking for. With metallics, it’s all about balance! Pick a statement piece and then dress it down with denim and a neutral-colored top.

Buffalo Exchange Atlanta Back to School Trends

3 of Our Favorite Back to School Trends

By Buffalo Exchange Atlanta

Shopping for back to school wardrobes can be quite the tall order. If you’re anything like us, you plan out your first-day outfit to a T, PLUS try to stock up on a solid selection of basics, PLUS pick up the year’s top back to school trends, all while staying under budget. Geez – say that five times fast. To help you out, we’ve put together a few of our favorite looks of the year, all crafted affordably with finds from Buffalo Exchange. Whether worrying about your GPA is (thankfully) a thing of the past or you’re still trucking your way through school, these looks are perfect for fall!

Camo Cameo

Buffalo Exchange Atlanta Camo

Camouflage has been on the radar all summer long, but it’s now available in a refreshing array of colors, including pink, fluorescent yellow and orange. Perhaps surprisingly, this is one of the more versatile back to school trends – if you want to dabble with camo, pick up a tee, hat or bag with the print. Otherwise, go for the most popular camo item, by far: a baggy, army-style pant.  Pair these with crop tops, graphic tees, band tees or mesh.

New Takes on Denim

When we think of back to school shopping, we think of the hunt for the perfect jeans.  There’s nothing more classic than denim for fall, but you don’t have to stick to just jeans and a tee!  Interesting new back to school trends in denim are available this year: think frayed hems and distressing, embroidery, button-front skirts, overalls, jumpsuits and denim jackets for a full Americana look.  Denim looks especially good when paired with bandanas or covered with patches and pins.

Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

By Joe Carrel, Buffalo Exchange HQ

Every city has that one part of town. The part that seems to have a bit more personality than the rest – the one where creative folks are free to do their thing. But usually those imaginative pockets are overlooked by the residents of the city at large, appreciated more by out-of-town visitors. My suggestion? Every once in a while, take on the mindset of those visitors and be a tourist your own town.

Timing is Everything

Unfortunately, artsy areas are often in an older, more congested part of the city. The key is to go during off hours – early on weekend mornings or, even better, a holiday. I woke up surprisingly early on the 4th of July and decided to stroll through downtown Tucson, AZ. While it may not be the bustling metropolis that your city is, I was shocked at how few people I saw. I half expected a tumbleweed roll by. If only for a little while, the place felt like it was mine.

Be a Tourist in Your Own Town & Make New Discoveries

For my morning of hometown tourism, I brought up a map of downtown murals, parked the car, applied some sunscreen and started walking. Good tunes flowed through my earbuds and, without the usual car or foot traffic in the way, opportunities for interesting photos were plentiful. I also made sure to take note of new (or new-to-me) shops and restaurants that I wanted to check out in the future.

For the sportier gal, we paired some darker wash step- hem jeans with a cropped choker neck hoodie. Add some comfortable sneakers and a backpack and you’re ready to head off to class.

Jobs That Travel: Jeanette’s Buffalo Exchange Journey

By Buffalo Exchange HQ

One of the best parts of working at Buffalo Exchange is that there are always opportunities to grow – this is definitely one of those jobs that travel! Whether it be moving to a different city or taking on a new position, anything is possible. Jeanette Sandala is the perfect example of someone who took advantage of opportunities as they arose and has been willing to go wherever she was needed.

Jobs That Travel: From Tucson to the West Coast to NYC and Back Again

Buffalo Exchange Career Jeanette

It all started with the application she filled out with pink sparkle pen, which she strongly believes is the reason she was hired. She started at Buffalo Exchange Tucson in 1998 as a part-time Buyer and has moved and progressed a great deal in her almost 20 year career.

In 2002, she moved to Portland, Oregon and soon accepted an Associate Manager position. Two years later, she jumped at the opportunity to relocate to California, where she became Store Manager of our new Costa Mesa store. After that, it wasn’t long before she moved to the Long Beach location. But as someone who loves jobs that travel, you couldn’t expect her to stay put, right? In 2009, she traded coasts and headed to New York, where she eventually became the Store Manager of the Williamsburg location.
