Kenji Shimizu is a regular shopper at our Eugene, OR location. Originally from Japan, he has lived in Eugene for the past ten years. He’s had his own unique style for as long as he can remember, saying “I never wanted to wear the clothes mom picked out for me!” Besides Buffalo Exchange, he loves shopping Zara and ASOS online. He finds inspiration from European designers and street fashion, particularly European model Mariano Di Vaio. Kenji comes in looking for great pants; including his favorite pair of Levi’s slim cargo pants and Nike sneakers. Mother’s Day

By Anusha S., Buffalo Exchange D.C. (Georgetown)

This year I am fortunate enough to spend Mother’s Day not only with my mom, but also with my grandma, who is visiting from Iran. It has definitely been nice having her, and being that she lives 6,500 miles away, I don’t get to see her too often. It has been about 16 years since I have been there myself, so naturally I enjoy asking about ways in which the city she lives (Tehran) has changed over time. Iran is an Islamic Republic, and being so, women are required to cover themselves in public. But that doesn’t stop them from expressing themselves through fashion. With an endless array of colors hanging from the walls in their bazaars, to the beautiful Alborz Mountains, the city of Tehran creates the perfect backdrop for any fashion photoshoot.

10 Year Anniversary

By Denise L., Buffalo Exchange New Orleans

We’re celebrating our 10 year anniversary this Saturday, May 9 from 11am–7pm!

Close your eyes for a moment and flash back to May 2005. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had just announced their separation, Britney Spears was married to Kevin Federline, and the radio was blasting “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani and “Soldier” by Destiny’s Child. Hot movies at the box office were Kung Fu Hustle, Sahara, and Sin City. On television Lost was ending its first season and Family Guy was beginning its broadcast. Carrie Underwood won the fourth season of American Idol and Tom Cruise was proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes on Opera’s couch. In fashion camisoles were popular embellished with sequins or layered under tees, flared low rise jeans, boho skirts, and knit gauchos were all over the streets. For men, Ed Hardy tees and super skinny jeans were all the rage.

“HANDFUL OF GEMS” BY COLLEGE FASHIONISTA

College Fashionista featured Buffalo Exchange in “Around Town: Buffalo Exchange” on May 5, 2015: “Being able to walk into a store and instantly find a handful of gems to stock your closet with isn’t always easy. … I never leave empty handed from Buffalo Exchange, and I love the variety of both vintage and high-end items I find. Even better, I feel good buying secondhand pieces since I get to reuse items that are already out there. …”

Sasquatch!

By Buffalo Exchange Seattle (U-District)

This isn’t Coachella or SXSW, this is Sasquatch! Only a month away, Washington’s premiere outdoor music festival starts Friday, May 22 and goes until Monday, May 25. Sasquatch always takes place at the Gorge, which is about a three hour drive from Seattle. When Seattleites do festivals they go all the way. Don’t expect to see any hotels out here; it’s four days of camping rain or shine.
