The ShiningI once visited the hotel from “The Shining.”  A slow, steep drive up the snowy south side (tongue-twister apologies) of Mt. Hood, Oregon brought me to the Timberline Lodge.  Unfortunately, its beauty only slightly tempered my disappointment.  It wasn’t simply that I discovered the lodge was only used for exterior shots (and had no hedge maze); it was more that there was absolutely no acknowledgement of the classic film to be found.Full Story

Buffalo Exchange Las Vegas

Photos by Thrashonistas

Las Vegas StyleWith fall upon us in Vegas (finally!), it’s time to brush the dust bunnies off our favorite fall layering pieces and pile them on. In the midst of thinking about fall trends, we were preparing for Halloween and our favorite dress up idea was the Village People and we thought that the village people could translate into current trends for fall with their eclectic mix of leather, western wear, and denim! We are loving oversized military jackets for girls, leather pencil skirts, and the gentleman look for guys with colorful oxfords, oversized totes, and tailored trousers. And of course, fall brings the chunky knits that are ever popular… even in the desert. We love chunky cable knit eternity scarves and lurex sweaters for the upcoming cold weather!Full Story

Salted Carmel Mini Apple Pies

Apple PiesAfter I baked my first pie a few years back I was shocked at the simplicity that goes into a pie. I always thought pies were just as complicated as cakes. But aside from the dough, pies are normally done within a few steps. So this past weekend my good friend Leanna and I embarked on baking Salted Carmel Mini Apple Pies. We found this recipe on Pinterest and did our best to follow it with a few tweaks of our own. Full Story

Street Style: Sherman Oaks

Sherman Oaks StyleAlthough the calendar claims fall is right around the corner, here in Sherman Oaks we are combating some “hotter than hell” weather. So be it just natural that the hottest trend we are seeing adorned by all the glorious fashionistas is of the more sultry and Gothic persuasion? Last I heard, black is the last color you want to wear in 100+ degree weather. So how are the ladies rocking the boldest of trends? They are accentuating their color blocked outfits with sheer silhouettes, crystals and crosses dangling from elongated chains, and let us not forget our “studlier” accents. To reference one of the most iconic brooding souls Bob Dylan, let us at the Sherman Oaks Buffalo Exchange help you find the look that “can take the dark out of the nighttime and paint the daytime black.”

Trend Tracker: Mustard Men

by Josiah Earle, Buffalo Exchange Portland Downtown.

Mustard Color StyleFor some reason, mustard seems to have been somewhat forgotten and underutilized in menswear, until now! And I’m not talking about the condiment. While the ladies have been able to revel in the rich, delicious tones of this color, men have been missing out. Now, we’re getting ours, not only in outerwear, but accessories as well! Designers like Kenzo, Agnes B, Vivienne Westwood and the all amazing Burberry Prorsum have been featuring this color in everything from blazers, to sweaters and pants! We took our own spin on this trend with finds at Downtown Portland Buffalo!Full Story

Pop, Mix & Match It!

Written & Photographed by Karen Garanzuay Madrigal, Buffalo Exchange San Antonio

Pop StyleContrary to popular belief, fall doesn’t necessarily mean you must layer up and create your very own “humdrum” color palette of dark & deep tones. Now that October is here, it’s time to take some fashion risks & get inspired by all shades that “POP!” and dare to mix & match various patterns.Full Story
