Street Style: Boston (Allston)

Three looks that have emerged this season in Boston that have helped to set the tone of the streets are, fun and fashionable interview outfits for all of our local recent college grads, the classic peplum detail for those ladies wanting to sport a vintage inspired look, and of course the carefree punk style that defines our neighborhood year round.

Boston StyleThe key to picking a fashion forward interview outfit is to keep your audience in mind. It is best to wear something that is definitively you, but that will also leave a lasting impression. Be it a pair of fresh pair of Michael Kohrs sandals or the pop of a bright red accent piece, choose something that will leave them wanting. Always be true to yourself and wear what makes you feel good, but remember, you’ve got one shot so make it count!Full Story

Keep Your Fork There’s Pie

By Josiah Earle, Buffalo Exchange Portland (Downtown)

Band PhotoPortland based sextet band, Keep Your Fork There’s Pie, have been churning out their own unique and infectious brand of folk-pop soul-rock since 2006. The playful sensibility of the band’s humorous onstage banter and instrument/vocal swapping makes each show exciting and a special entertainment event for the whole family. And there’s usually pie (seriously, they want you to eat the pie!) Earlier this summer, when Downtown Portland Buffalo employee Josiah, was asked by his brother/band member Nathan to style a photo shoot for the band to promote their upcoming shows and album, he jumped at the chance. Nathan has been shopping at Buffalo since long before Josiah knew it existed and he rarely leaves the store without a few new treasures for his wardrobe. Josiah tried to convey each band member’s individual styles and personalities while using a color palette suggested by his brother. Full Story

Customer Round Up: Los Angeles (La Brea)

Los Angeles StyleThese super dapper gents turned everyone’s heads when they walked into Buffalo Exchange Los Angeles (La Brea) – customers and employees alike were taking notice of their coordinated outfits, sharp tailoring, and serious confidence. Street Style: Minneapolis

Minneapolis Style

Here in Minnesota, contrary to popular belief, people are wearing more than parkas and flannel shirts. Day after day our customers at Buffalo Exchange in Minneapolis prove that stereotype wrong. The Lyn-Lake area, where our store is located, is the perfect place to go when looking for Minneapolis street style. The area is eclectic to say the least, giving rise to a culture where learning, growing, and generally not being afraid to color outside the lines is common practice. During the summer months is when those attributes shine the brightest and Minneapolis comes to life with trendy style and creativity. There are a few key styles that have really taken flight on the streets of Minneapolis, but the key element of a vintage piece seems to be the thread pulling Minneapolis street style together.Full Story

A Second Chance

Dog PhotoIt’s not often that we have the opportunity to see how our donation programs help first hand. At Buffalo Exchange San Diego (Pacific Beach) employee Gohar Khachatryan found an injured dog in poor health.  Gohar took the dog to Second Chance Dog Rescue, a charity in our Tokens for Bags® program. They treated the dog (now named Emma) and helped her regain her health.  Even more they told Gohar the donation they received from Buffalo Exchange’s Tokens for Bags® last month actually paid for Emma’s medical bills. Now this little pup has a second chance at a happy life. Emma is currently in a foster home patiently waiting to be adopted.

Through our Tokens for Bags® program, Buffalo Exchange has generated over $445,500 for hundreds of local nonprofit organizations since 1994, saving 8.9 million plastic bags. Shoppers are encouraged to accept a token instead of a bag for purchases, and Buffalo Exchange donates five cents to a charity of the customer’s choice.

Street Style: Tucson

Tucson Style

Its monsoon season down here in the south-west! When we’re not praying to the rain gods, you can find us walking down our fierce runway aka “The Hot Sidewalk”. The neon trend has hit Tucson like a thunder-storm from head to toe. This forecast includes bright pink streaks in our hair to electric yellow tribal sandals. To stay extra cool in more ways than one, we look for unique cut-outs, show stopping chiffon fabrics, tribal designs, and fringe accents. The Tucson monsoon is not complete until we’ve added our leather cross body purses and south-west inspired jewelry. The ladies aren’t the only ones sporting bold colors. The men are also celebrating this monsoon with bright primaries such as reds, blues, and yellows. With this Arizona sun guys are color blocking tanks and tees with a pair of Levis. The look isn’t truly reached without your high tops and snapbacks. Also, if the weather permits and it happens to rain, throw on a light-weight cardigan and you’ve got the monsoon summer conquered.

Street Style: Eugene

Eugene Style

Here in Eugene we’re getting a short break from the rain so everyone is taking full advantage of hot summer trends. The Oregon Country Fair is here again, and this year festival fashion has taken to the streets. You don’t have to be out at the fair cite to see people wearing bandeaus, face paint, neon, sequins, feathers, wild glasses, leather fringe, tutus and funky hats. In addition to festival wear, the ladies of Eugene are rocking colored denim, crop tops and bra tops of all different varieties, tie-dye shorts, tops and dresses and both clothing and hair styled in an ombre.
