"Arrival of the thrift mecca" by The Washington Post

The Washington Post Style Blog featured Buffalo Exchange in “Buffalo Exchange brings thrifty fashion to D.C.” on June 15, 2012: "Washington joins the ranks of Williamsburg and Boerum Hill. Our fashion savants, honored for their perpetual worship of the bowler hat, will be rewarded handsomely with a style sanctorian cemented on 14th Street. The arrival of the thrift mecca, the fabled Buffalo Exchange, means the end of an era, one where vintage addicts took seasonal Megabus trips to Brooklyn in search of Union Hardward roller skates. The cash on-demand thrift and resale chain, founded in 1974 in Tucson, Arizona, has over 40 stores that morph to fit the quirks of their communities... Selling both men’s and women’s clothes, Buffalo Exchange focuses on trends, not brands... New York scenesters and Elle editors speak of Buffalo Exchange like contraband, a place where cheap thrills and ecstatic highs come with the added bonus of being able to disrobe and trade your designer jeans for something new-to-you in the store."

Bearing bags and bags of clothes pulled from the closets of our three challenge contestants, we arrived at the front door of the New York outpost of Buffalo Exchange, one of the country's biggest 'buy-sell-trade' chains. Bree Turnier, the manager of the Buffalo Exchange store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, told 'GMA' the chain looks for the three 'Cs' of clean, current and good condition when deciding which items to buy and determining their value... The money that 'GMA's' three closet contestants took home with them that day from Buffalo Exchange alone range up to more than $200, including $153 for Breck's designer duds, $52 for Cavrell's sentimental clothes and $46 for Tharp's power suits...
Elle Magazine repurposes Buffalo Exchange finds

Elle Magazine shopped Buffalo Exchange in "Style A to Zee: Second Life," July 2011 issue, Slip Up: "Who says your new look has to be, well, new? With a little ingenuity (and the help of an ace tailor), Creative Director Joe Zee pillages vintage stores, boys’ departments—even his assistant’s closet—to reinvent already-loved treasures... Found at: Buffalo Exchange, NYC. Price: $5 apiece. Maybe you’ve got slips left over from the Courtney Love era; or maybe you collect them because you can’t resist the beauty of vintage lingerie. If the darting is too high or too low, or the shape too roomy, don’t hesitate to have underpinnings tailored too. How I Styled It: Antonio [Marquez, 'tailor extraordinaire'] integrated the ruffles and bodices to create one easy, flirty dress.
